Last Call for Scholastic Book Fair - Tomorrow and Friday!!!

There are only 2 more shopping days at the 2008 Scholastic Book Fair, tomorrow and Friday! If you haven't yet had a chance, please stop by and check out the selection of books. We have more variety this year than ever before. Get a jump on that holiday shopping and help build classroom libraries.

If you are the parent of a 4th or 5th grader, please remember that they will be visiting the fair to shop tomorrow, Wednesday, October 8th. Based on the selection this year, we recommend sending between $5-$10 with your child. Thanks so much to all the parents who have shopped at the fair!!

Great Parent Turn Out for Book Fair After 1st 2008-2009 FALP

Following this morning's first Parents As Learning Partners event of 2008-2009, the turnout was terrific for the Scholastic Book Fair Parents Pre-Sale. The fresh-baked homemade coffee cake, banana and pumpkin breads - graciously donated by A Little Something By Nina - were decidedly NCLB (No Crumbs Left Behind)!

Please note:

• The fair is open today (Friday) until 6 PM.
• Family Shopping Hours tomorrow, Saturday, October 4th, are from 8:30-3:30 PM. 
• Teachers visited the fair yesterday to create their own classroom wish lists, which are posted on the walls beside the fair cashier's desk.

To volunteer for a time slot (mounting a book fair open so many days to accommodate nearly 700 children requires many helping hands!), please email Jeanmarie. For parents new to the school, the fair is a great launch pad for involvement in the school community!

The Book Fair Is Up! Come Visit After Families As Learning Partners!

The Scholastic Book Fair is up and running and the selection is amazing and bigger than ever!! Teachers came for the Faculty Sneak Peek this afternoon to browse and create wish lists. Thanks to Marquet Patisserie for graciously donating the tray of lovely cookies for our faculty!!

Tomorrow please come and shop at the fair after Families As Reading Partners. We'll have coffee, tea and home-baked coffee cake and other goodies (donated by A Little Something By Nina). 

Scholastic Book Fair Still Needs Volunteers; Browse After Families As Reading Partners On Friday!

Please get in touch with Jeanmarie Giordano, co-chair of the Scholastic Book Fair, to volunteer your time at the fair, if you haven't yet had the chance to do so. It takes a lot of helping hands to stage the book fair, which has become a vital PS 29 institution that helps forge in our kids a life-long love of reading. We raise funds through the fair to support our other literacy efforts; earn lots of books for our library; and, most significantly, help make finding just-right books really fun for the kids.

Parents of children new to the school are encouraged to volunteer for the fair; it's a great starting point for involvement!

Your support can take a variety of forms: volunteering your time, sending your child in with a few dollars to buy a book on his/her class shopping day, and making your own shopping visit to the fair. Please take a few minutes to stop by for refreshments and browse the selection as an apt follow-up to this Friday's Families As Reading Partners (in your child's classroom, 8:30-9:10 AM). The fair takes place in the outer cafeteria - and we look forward to seeing you there!
