The 3rd grade parent meeting takes place tomorrow, Tuesday, June 17, immediately following drop off.

Ago! Amée!! PS 29's Third Grade Attends BAM DanceAfrica 2008!

As a culmination of the nine-week in-school residencies of BAM African DanceBeat and BAM African MusicBeat – a complement to the third-grade social studies unit on Africa - the entire third grade went this morning to BAM's DanceAfrica 2008 "Bridge to Cultural Rejuvenation & Enlightenment," a performance at the BAM Opera House of Gambian dance and percussion troupe Ceesay Kujabi and the Bachinab. The show was followed by a Q&A with the troupe and BAM DanceAfrica artistic director Chuck Davis. This year's PS 29 residencies received significant funding from a BAM trustee.

Now in its 31st year, the ever-joyous BAM's DanceAfrica festival is a Memorial Day weekend tradition in Brooklyn, packed with dance, music, art, and film events from Africa and the Diaspora—plus an outdoor bazaar of African crafts, food, fashion, stilt walkers and drummers.
