Big Day for PIE!

What a day for PIE! The 2nd Annual PS 29 Pie Social was a resounding hit with over 50 pies entered in today's friendly competition. Our pie contenders fell into three categories - cream, savory and sweet. Thanks to all the participants and for all the pie offerings!

Arthur Phillips won for his Key Lime Chiffon cream pie entry. Beth Bugler took the title for savory with her Duck Bacon Leek Pie and Jane Heaphy swept the sweet pie honors with her very own Pecan Pie. Congratulations to you all!!!

A huge thanks to Elizabeth Armstrong and Janie Green for co-chairing this yummy event! Special thanks to the Pie Social Committee Members Emmanuelle Chiche, Daisy Hurkin-Vega, Elizabeth Lind, Emily Phillips, Jenn Seda, Gina Stormont and Lisa Weger.

A sweet, salty and creamy thanks to the panel of judges: Our very own pre-K family worker Roseann Giglio; former pastry chef and current teaching assistant (in K-223 with Dan Turret) Medina Khalil; last year's winner and two-time contestant, Patrick Klauss; former pastry chef Elizabeth Lind; 2nd grade parent Robert Simonson; and Gina Stormont, whose expertise spans finance and cuisine.

Enter your homemade pie in this friendly competition and tasting! The pie social is fun for everyone! Great pies, Juliet the Clown, and an arts area courtesy of The Artistry Project. Mark your calendars for Sunday, November 2nd, 1:00-3:00 PM. Click, print and send in the form with your child, or drop it off in th Pie Social entry form box in the main office.

P.S. 29 will be holding its second annual Pie Social on Sunday, November 2, 2008 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the schoolyard. Like last year, a panel of your peers will judge this friendly competition and prizes will be awarded to the winners. Complete with music and entertainment, this event will be fun and delicious for the whole family. Expect a raffle, arts & crafts setup by The Artistry Project, entertainment by Juliet the Clown, and more!

For $10, you may enter a maximum of three (3) pies in any of the following categories: Sweet, Savory or Cream. To enter, please complete the information below and return it with a check for $10 made payable to “PTA of PS 29.” Place the form and the check in an envelope labeled “Pie Social” and deposit it in the “Pie Social” box in the main office. Please note that the PTA cannot be responsible for cash left in the PTA mailbox!
