Heavy Metal: Our Electronics Recycling Drive's Impressive Tonnage Report

Here are the confirmed numbers from our first-ever joint electronics recycling day with the Cobble Hill Association: In just a one-day span, we had 192 people come to the schoolyard to drop off electronics of all sorts, collectively weighing 9,054 pounds. That's all hazardous material that we thankfully diverted from landfills and which will now be either re-purposed or will receive proper disposal. Per our contacts at the Lower East Side Ecology Center (LESEC), these are truly fantastic results! The PTA therefore looks forward to working with the Cobble Hill Association and LESEC for a second e-recycling drive.

E-Recycling Day Is A Huge Success

Saturday's Electronics Recycling Day, co-sponsored by the PS 29 PTA, Cobble Hill Association and NYC Councilmember Bill di Blasio, was a huge success! By 4:00 PM the truck was full of cast-off computers, TVs, fax machines and lots of other gadgets. Just wanted to say thanks again for hosting the electronics recycling event with us yesterday. Sometime next week I'll have exact numbers for you regarding tonnage of materials collected as well as number of people who participated, but from what I saw first hand, it was truly a fantastic neighborhood event. Everyone I spoke with was sincerely appreciative to the school, the CHA, and the Lower East Side Ecology Center and immediately asked when will we do it again.
